Welcome to Leonard L. Loeb Society of Jewish Scholars!
The mission of the Leonard L. Loeb Society of Jewish Scholars is to
enable Jewish high school students to actualize their potential in the
areas of Jewish activism (Tikkun Olam) and Scholarship. We accomplish
this by introducing the students to successful models of community
activism; and to the study of text and ideas that have formed the
Jewish attitude toward giving and making a difference, over the
millennia. Our success will be measured by the degree to which our
scholars see their experience as the beginning of a life dedicated to
personal Jewish enrichment, for the purpose of improving the condition
of the Jewish community, and the world at large.
The program is under the direction of Rabbi Yehoshua
Karsh, director of the Torah Learning Center of Northbrook. It is open
to Jewish high school students from the Chicago metropolitan area, of
every Jewish background and level of religious observance.
